If you give a girl some time at home....inspired by author Laura Numeroff.

If you give a girl some time at home, she will vow to spend the time wisely;

One day, while home, she wakes up early and notices in her room, some chipped paint.

So gets up and she goes to Home Depot to get paint, brushes, rollers, and everything else she might need for painting her bedroom;

Once she is home, she starts to plan out her painting project and realizes that she forgot to get painter's tape;

She looks around for painter's tape in the closet and decides that the closet is a mess and it needs to be reorganized.

She goes right back to Home Depot to get bins and lids, and garbage bags too, so that she can clean out the closet.

She gets home and begins to clean out the closet. As she is cleaning, she places some items on the dining room table

Being in the dining room reminds her that her cake decorating supplies are in the dining room closet, and it has been quite a while since she did some baking

She grabs the muffin tins and starts to think about what to bake;

She remembers that she has a lot of great recipes saved online, so she hops on the computer

While on the computer, she decides to check in on some social media;

She sees a comment about one of her favorite shows, so she opens up a new tab and starts to binge-watch the show;

She proceeds to fall asleep on the couch while watching the show;

Once she wakes up, she wonders why her hallway closet is half emptied and why it is dark out, and why she is so hungry!

She realizes how late it is and decides to go to bed instead;

While all tucked in and ready to sleep, she notices the paint that is chipped.

She puts a note on her phone to remind her to work on that tomorrow.

How many of you have had days like this during quarantine? For those of you who never skipped a beat and worked through this entire nightmare, I have such respect for what you do and hope that you are safe and healthy. Thank you for all you do! Many of us were sent home to work remotely. Some are preparing to return to work in a few weeks, so get those projects done! I know, for me, I planned a bunch of projects and, proud to say, I did accomplish a lot. I did take the time to rest too. For this (hopefully) last round of surgery in June, my recovery was a lot harder than I expected it to be. I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to heal and to give my body the time that it needed.

I have been trying to find the silver lining in all this. I refuse to beat myself up over any unfinished projects. I know that it all somehow manages to get done. I do wonder, who is keeping score? Slow and steady people. Slow...and....steady. Take the time to take care of yourself, otherwise, it is hard to take care of your loved ones. I have never in my life witnessed such anger and resentment in our society! I am worried about returning to work, and thankful for the time home to stay safe. It is so hard to avoid getting wrapped up in all the anger and rhetoric that is being thrown around daily.

So, I bake, purge, take walks, watch Adam's baseball games, listen to Michael's podcasts, binge watch TV, and take rides in the car with Allen. Oh, and I have found an interest in writing/blogging. I hope you are enjoying my writing and perhaps I have made you smile while reading this. If I did, then mission accomplished!

The photo shared in this blog is from a cake show that I entered in Maryland in 2010.

I love the book, If You Give A Mouse A Cookie, and it was the inspiration for the cake, and well as today's blog entry. I had such fun making this cake. I might get into working with fondant again! Before that, I am learning to make macarons. I will share that adventure next time.

Thanks for listening! xoxo

Confrontation

How many of you are good at confrontation? Personally, I hate it. For much of my life, I was actually a pretty shy and quiet person. ...
